Security is a real concern, no question, we would argue in green channel cloud, your data is more securer in the cloud platform and can ever be within the premise or this means building if you like. --why is that?
Well, because typically, the house own service, currently, um, there're backup tapes held on site. And it's very easy to get to it. If I want to get to it, it would be very easy to get to it. So, we, the data centres itself, this warehouse full of computers is far more security than in that environment.
--But has anybody ever lost their data on cloud net works,on your particular cloud that work.
No, they have not. Uh, it's not something that's happened, no, but it is possible for sure.
--Let's look into hypothetical possibilities(Yes). How could that occur because, of course, we've seen hackers getting into the servers. Some of the world's largest company we are talking about ,Google, Sony, PDS, ( indeed), Fox, you name it. Wouldn't they try to target the cloud.
Yes, they'll be but it's probably, who they will target. If I was a hacker, I probably want to target the big guys. Because that's a big hit, are they really interested in data of typical SME, I don't think so.
--Well, how likely is it that they may actually crack the cloud network of one of these largest companies, really? I mean, does the security need to be step up across the border of irrespective this new type of technology.
I think uh, where you're on premise, the clouds security will always be risk, big security versus data in our experience, it's being not hackers but internal staff has been huge issue for security and that will continue when you're in cloud. So SMEs need to adopt a good stance on security.
--Now when you say SME, you mean small to medium size,It's right?
I'm talking about 10 users up to 500 users , that type of organization.
--Would you also talk about how the cloud is going to revolutionize business processes. Is it going to be more cost-effective for those large companies as you saying, the potentially hackers could target or for your average small to medium size enterprises. where does the cost saving really matter here?
There are a number of ways to save your money, dealing with specific SMEs. And typically we see CARPEx versus Opec's arrangement. So, you get a hand on your cash when you run, buy if you rented, and we see as utility price, so now when you're in the cloud, you can turn this up, or turn it down as you needs demand,so you can grow, and you can contract, and being able to turn it up and down is a key for us, and there are kind of key components in saving money in the shorter term, but the longer term the benefits are increased productivity, concentrate your core skills. IT is no longer a burden for you, and you become more agile as results, if the major customers need more quickly, and change your offer if it needs be much more quickly now.
--Now, I must ask you this, one of our producers brought me up to speed with the fact that Larry Ellison of Oracle actually came up with this kind of idea back in 1990s, and showed that precisely because this kind of security concerns, what's your answer to that, why it's now popular?
uh, 20 years, 19 years are life time, technology has evolved several several times since then, so I don't see that as an argue today, it's just a little bit too much time has passed |
