Indonesia's counter-terrorism police have shot dead five men suspected of planning terrorist attacks in Bali.Heavily armed police conducted two raids overnight.Three suspects were shot and killed in at a hotel in Sanur,another two died during a raid in Denpasar.Police say they seized two handguns and dozens of bullets during those raids. The New South Wales Riverina town of Hay is on flood alert this morning,with the Murrumbidgee river expected to peak 9 meters later this morning.Residents have been advised to evacuate but most people have decided to stay put.Authorities say at least one leak has been detected in the levee protecting the town.
The Queensland election is entering its final week.Primer,Anna Bligh,and LNP lwader,Campbell Newman,will go head to head today in their only official debate held at the campaign.The latest opinion poll shows the LNP is still heading for a landslide win on Saturday.At least Labor 60% to 40% on the two-party preferred vote.
Official in East Timor say President Jose Ramos Horta has lost his bid for another term,with 70% of votes countered his trailing behind two former independent fighters.A run-off election between Francisco Guterres and Taur Matan Ruak will take place next month.
