SUVA, April 22 (Xinhua) -- World famous supermodel, actress and reality television host Rachel Hunter told the media here Sunday that she highly rated the talent of Fijian girls who can make it big in the fashion world. As a judge in the Miss World Fiji Pageant which concluded in Fiji's capital Suva over the weekend, Hunter said Fijian girls are beautiful inside and out and are equally smart with others in the world.
Fijian girls have what it takes to be a supermodel and they have great potential, says Hunter, adding Fijians are unique in their own ways and through this contest, she was able to see what Fiji has to offer when it comes to modeling.
She says Fijians need international exposure and that the Miss World Fiji contest should open up doors for Fijian girls on the international arena as the winner of the pageant will be doing photo shoots with a top U.S. agency for a year as part of her award.
Torika Watters, 16, was crowned Miss World Fiji 2012 Saturday night. She will focus on promoting Fiji's uniqueness and the importance of mental health in the island nation.
Talking about Watters, Hunter, the New Zealand-born celebrity who is also a citizen of United States, said the newly crowned Miss Fiji World 2012 has what it takes to compete on the international scene and remains positive about her chances.
"She (Watters) is a fantastic young lady who is very confident and has the right attitude to go far...all the 13 contestants were unique and beautiful and judging of course was tough. The young ladies bonded pretty well and gave their best," Hunter praised.
On Fiji's fashion industry, Hunter said Fijian designers were creative and used their natural resources well in creativity.
Hunter began her modeling career as a 17-year-old in 1986 and is best known for her appearance in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues. |
