Greece’s conservative New Democracy Party has claimed victory in the country’s crucial general election. New Democracy appears to have won 30% of the vote, 4 points ahead of the left wing Syriza Party. Party leader,Antonis Samaras says the Greek people have said they want to stay anchored with the Euro. Police have arrested a couple over the death of a security guard in inner Sydney.Police say the 68-year-old man was attacked after he tried to stop a break-in at the Broadway shopping complex last night. He was taken to hospital but later died.
Police in Melbourne are searching for a gang of violent thieves,who robbed Taxi drivers in the city’s west. Up to six men wearing
Balaclavas
and armed with baseball bats used two stolen cars to rob at least five taxis.
The searches were resumed shortly for two young men,missing feared
drowned off
the Central News South Wales coast. The 18 and 20-year-old had been fishing and surfing with a young woman,at Flat Rock, near Catherine Hill Bay,when they got into trouble. The woman’s body was found yesterday morning.
A Federal parliamentary committee will hand down its report today on two bills to allow gay marriage. One bill’s been put forward by the Greens MP,Adam Bandt. The othere was introduced by Labor Backbencher, Stephen Jones. |
