The Commonwealth Bank says,recent big cuts in the official interest rate,are helping boost consumer spending.The bank's business sale indicator has risen by nearly 2% in May but the CBA says uncertainty over the global economy has put a dent in confidence and it mades difficult to predict if that momentum will continue. European economists fear Spain is close to a sovereign bailout.Spain has raised a 3 billion EUROs overnight,but has to pay investors more than 5% of that over a year,that's the highest level in five years.EU officials are also due to finish their order to Spanish banks later this week.They have sought up to 100 billion EUORs in long term loans.

t has been a good night for the markets.In fact the DOW has finished 96 points higher.The NASDAQ up 34,the S&P 500 putting 13 points on and across in London,the FTSE gaining 95.
To the commodities markets,West Texas Crude is trading at 83 US dollars and 97 cents a barrel.Tapis Crude at 100 US dollars 39 cents a barrel.And golds 1620 US dollars an ounce.
To the currencies,the Australian dollar is buying just over one US dollar,80 EURO cents,and 65 pence sterling. |
