LONDON, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Britain's Metropolitan Police (MPS) arrested six people on terror charges in London on Thursday. The arrests, including five men and one woman, were made by officers from the MPS Counter Terrorism Command as part of a planned intelligence-led operation.
The men and woman, aged between 18 to 30, were arrested on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism, according to the MPS.
Officers from the MPS Firearms Unit were involved in these arrests. A 24-year-old man was tasered during the arrest but he did not require hospital treatment.
They have been taken to a southeast London police station and remain in custody.
The MPS said the operation is not linked to the Olympic and Paralympic games. |
