Two thirds surveyed in the Fair Fax Nilson poll say they don't support the tax. The Australian lawyer Melinda Taylor is expected to be released from Libya detention centre today. She is one of the four lawyers detained last month while meeting the former asylum leader Mouammer Gaddafi. An International Criminal Court spokesman says its president will travel to Libya ahead of the release.
Extradition proceedings will begin today in Darwin for a man wanted over a murder in New South Wales. Northern Territory police have arrested Johnason Hernasburg who's been on the run since last week. He is accused of the beheading of a 54-year-old man on the New South Wales north coast last month.
A search will resume at first light for a man believed to have been missing in waters on the Gold Coast in Queensland's southeast. Water police and a helicopter scout the Surf lake yesterday after a Port Mandesion distress at a broad beach. The search was suspended overnight.
A study has found indeginous prisoners in Queensland will have a higher risk of mental illness than the general population. The study has found 73% of indigenous men and 86% of indigenous women at Queenland prisons have a mental disorder. |
