LONDON, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- The Mexican delegation for London 2012 Olympic Games had its best performance in over 40 years in the summer games, winning seven medals, including one golden, three silver and three bronze. It is the second best Olympics for Mexico, only surpassed by the one in Mexico 1968, where it won three golden, three silver and three bronze medals.
Aida Roman won a silver medal and Mariana Avitia a bronze in the women's archery, while Laura Sanchez won bronze medal in the 3m trampoline.
In women's synchronized diving 10-meter platform, Paola Espinosa/Alejandra Orozco won the silver medal, while Maria del Rosario Espinoza took a bronze in women's 67kg taekwondo.
Mexican men only achieved two medals, but one of them was the men's soccer gold medal, one of the most valuable medal in Olympics. The other is in synchronized diving 10-meter platform by Ivan Garcia and German Sanchez.
In the Latin American medals table, Mexico was defeated by Jamaica, Cuba, Brazil and Colombia. |
