1. The United Nations Security Council is scheduled to vote Wednesday afternoon on a new resolution to end the 17-month-old civil war in Syria. But Russia and China are still at odds with the US and western allies over the use of non-military sanctions against the Assad regime. 2. The Obama administration just unveiled a $1 billion plan to boost science, math and engineering education. The plan would introduce an elite corps of master teachers who would be rewarded through a salary stipend in exchange for a multi-year teaching commitment.
3. The NCAA is considering whether Penn State University should face penalties following the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal. The NCAA says the so-called death penalty, shutting down the university's celebrated football program, hasn't been ruled out.
4. And it looks like Linsanity will be headed to the Houston Rockets. The New York Knicks couldn't match Houston's three-year, $25 million offer for superstar point guard Jeremy Lin. This marks a return to Houston for Lin where he spent two weeks in a training camp last December. |
