1. US defense officials accuse Iran of building and training a militia to help Syrian president Bashar Assad regime battle the rebel fighters trying to topple him. Defense Secretary Leon Pentagon says the Iranian efforts will only add to the killing. 2. A judge in Illinois is expected to decide Wednesday whether to declare a mistrial on the case of former police officer Drew Peterson, who is accused of killing his third wife. The most severe decision could allow Peterson to walk free.
3. Syrian State-run TV says a bomb has exploded near a fuel tank outside a hotel where UN observers are staying in the capital Damascus. The report says Wednesday's explosion wounded at least three people, none of them were believed to be UN staff.
4. Researchers in Texas are hoping to reconstruct a 17th century French ship, that sank off the Golf of Mexico in 1686. A unique freeze-drying process will safely remove three centuries of moisture before the ship becomes a musuem piece in Austin. |
