1. Republican Party Chairman Reince Priebus is insisting that the GOP can have a great week despite tropic storm Isaac bearing down on the Golf Coast. The Republican national convention is getting under way in Tampa but most of day's activities have been canceled because of the storm. 2. Tropic storm Isaac has blown past the Florida Keys and is headed for the Golf Coast with New Orleans in its crosshairs. Isaac has prompted evacuations along a wide area of the Gulf Coast. Wednesday is the seven year anniversary of hurricane Katrina.
3. The bodies of 11 people have been found dumped along a highway in Mexico. And authorities say it appears to be a series of drug-related killings. The bodies had all been shot in the head and bore signs of torture. Authorities are working to identify the victims.
4. Extreme pogo is hopping its way toward becoming an extreme sport. Pogo athletes in Southern California say they are trying to make it more popular using events like the Orange County state fair to do it. |
