Paralympic sports festival kicks off in Russian Far East(在线收听) |
VLADIVOSTOK, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- First Far Eastern paralympic sports festival opens in Khabarovsk on December 18. The athletes from four regions of the Russia's Far East take part in it, RIA Novosti news agency reported. About 100 athletes came to the festival from the Khabarovsk and Primorsky Krai, the Amur Region and the Jewish Autonomous Region. They will compete in more than 10 kinds of sports.
The paralympic sports festival in Khabarovsk will last until December 22. The winners will have a chance to become the members of the joint Far Eastern Federal District team and represent the region in the international tournaments of the Asia-Pacific region.
The event is organized by a social organization "Kovcheg" under the auspices of the Khabarovsk Krai administration, Khabarovsk Krai Physical Culture and Sports Federation of the disabled people with spinal cord injuries, the Russian Paralympic Committee and the All-Russia Sport Federation of the Physically Disabled. |
