BEIJING, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- The 23rd James Bond film, Skyfall, will debut in China on Monday, centering on a plot involving Bond, intelligence chief M and former MI6 operative Raoul Silva, the antagonist. The lengthiest 007 film, it tells of Bond's investigation into an attack on MI6. It turns out to be part of efforts by Silva, played by Javier Bardem, to humiliate, discredit and kill M in revenge for an act of betrayal, according to the China Film Group Corporation, Skyfall's importer.
The film also sees the return of two recurring characters in the series after an absence of two films: Q, played by Ben Whishaw, and Moneypenny, played by Naomie Harris.
Skyfall is the last movie of the series for six-time M actress Judi Dench, with the position to be taken over by Gareth Mallory, acted by Ralph Fiennes.
According to the film's producer, Barbara Broccoli, Skyfall probes the relation between Bond and M, the sole person representing authority to Bond.
Daniel Craig, who performs for the third time as Bond, said that the relation between Bond and M is established based on mutual respect as they are all aware of the sacrifices that need to be made when confronted with crisis.
However, Bond considers their rapport goes further than the professional, said Craig, adding that he was happy to play the role of a person who cannot show his affection.
Skyfall was released in the U.K. on Oct. 26, 2012 and the United States on Nov. 9, 2012. |
