The ceasefire violation took place Thursday evening around 180 kilometers southwest of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian- controlled Kashmir.

 

　　An Indian army spokesman said Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing on their posts. However, the Pakistani army claimed that Indian forces killed one of its soldiers.

 

　　It would be the second Pakistani soldier killed by Indian firing in five days as tension escalates along the Line of Control.

 

　　India and Pakistan have fought three wars since their independence in 1947, two of them over the disputed region of Kashmir.
