LIMA, March 7 (Xinhua) -- Peru on Thursday called up 15 players from abroad for a World Cup soccer qualifier against Chile. The players are goalkeeper Raul Fernandez (FC Dallas, United States), defenders Alberto Rodriguez (Rio Ave FC, Portugal), Carlos Zambrano (Eintracht Frankfurt, Germany), Yoshimar Yotun (CR Vasco da Gama, Brazil) and Luis Advincula (TSG 1899 Hoffeinheim, Germany).
Midfielders Rinaldo Cruzado (Newell's Old Boys, Argentina), Juan Vargas (Genoa CFC, Italy), Luis Ramirez (Ponte Petra, Brazil), Alvaro Ampuero (Parma FC, Italy) and Juan Marino (Queretaro FC, Mexico) were also called up.
The list also includes forwards Andre Carrillo (Sporting Clube, Portugal), Paolo Hurtado (FC Pacos de Ferreira, Portugal), Jefferson Farfan (FC Schalke 04, Germany), Claudio Pizarro (FC Bayern Munich, Germany) and Paolo Guerrero (Sport Club Corinthians Paulista, Brazil).
Coach Sergio Markarian from Uruguay said the overseas players will practice with the local league's players.
The Peru-Chile match arouses great expectations, for the historic rivalry between both countries, but also because a Peruvian victory will improve its possibilities to qualify.
Peru has eight points and is currently in the 8th position, while Chile has 12 points and is sixth.
