China's agriculture authority has shut down poultry farms in east China where animals have been given excessive amounts of antibiotics. Last week, Chinese media reported that some poultry farmers in Shandong had given their chickens excessive amounts of antibiotics, triggering nationwide concern over food safety.
Poultry producers and processors have since been shut down and put under close investigation.
The Ministry of Agriculture has dispatched a group of experts to Shandong and ordered local authorities to properly handle the case. |
