WASHINGTON, May 8 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Barack Obama will discuss the conflict in Syria, trade, counterterrorism and the upcoming G8 summit with British Prime Minister David Cameron when they meet next Monday at the White House, the presidential spokesman announced on Wednesday.

Defining U.S.-British relationship as one enabling the two countries to work together on a "broad range of shared global and regional security concerns," spokesman Jay Carney said the president looks forward to discussing Syria, trade and economic cooperation, counterterrorism and the priorities for the G8 summit slated for June in Northern Ireland.
During U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry's visit to Russia on Tuesday, the two countries agreed to hold an international conference on Syria by the end of May that would be attended by representatives of the government and the opposition.
The conflict in Syria has dragged on for three years and claimed more than 70,000 lives.
Cameron last visited the White House in March last year.
