With nearly 100 percent of the votes counted, Obama was declared the winner, giving him 332 to 406 final margin in the Electoral College. 2. Meantime, Obama is already butting heads with Congressional Republicans on what to do about the impending fiscal cliff. He's calling for tax hikes on the Wealthy. But House Speaker John Boehner says he is in favor of closing tax loopholes and spending cuts instead.
3. Several US officials with knowledge of the situation say former CIA director General David Petraeus carried on the affair with his biographer Paula Broadwell, a reserve army officer. Petraeus probably resigned his post Friday.
4. Thousands of angry students and teachers have taken to the streets of Rome Saturday. It's all part of the nationwide protest against schools budget cuts and other measures aimed at tackling the country's debt crisis. |
