CCTV9英语新闻:Brazil welcomes World Cup amid protest(在线收听) |
FIFA officials have said there are no plans to hold the 2014 World Cup in any country other than Brazil. Amid ongoing tensions in Brazil, rumours were suggesting that other countries may have renewed their bids following the opening of the 2013 Confederations Cup. "The Confederations Cup, the final, will be played in Rio de Janeiro, in the Maracana stadium, and the World Cup will be played in Brazil in 12 more cities. At least we have six stadiums which have been delivered, another six to come between now and the end of December 2013. So that is just to make things very clear," FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke said. “There is no plan B. And, by the way, I have never received any official offer from any other countries around the world to stage the World Cup in 2014." |
