CAIRO, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- An Egyptian court on Sunday set Aug. 25 as the trial date for Muslim Brotherhood (MB)'s top leader and two of his deputies and other members over various charges, state- run MENA news agency reported. The charges include killing, inciting violence against protesters and illegally possessing explosives and weapons, according to the report.
The Brotherhood's Supreme Guide Mohamed Badei is still hiding, but two of his aides, Khairat al-Shater and Rashad Bayoumi, are currently under arrest.
The top MB leaders are accused of inciting violence against protesters around the Brotherhood headquarters in Moqattam district in Cairo during June 30 protests that led to the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi. |
