Xi Jinping Kicks off Latin American, U.S. Tours(在线收听

  President Xi Jinping left this morning for state visits to three Latin American countries, as well as a meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama.
 
  Xi Jinping is set to hold talks with Obama in California over major strategic issues of mutual concern.
 
  Zheng Zeguang is China's Assistant Foreign Minister.
 
  "China and the United States will continue to promote the communication and cooperation in various fields, including trading, energy, environment protection and culture."
 
  Issues up for discussion include the Korean Peninsula, Iran's nuclear program, Syria and the global economic recovery.
 
  Before the summit with President Obama, Xi Jinping will travel to Trinidad and Tobago, Costa Rica and Mexico.
 
  Li Changhua is China's former ambassador to Costa Rica.
 
  "We could possibly sign with the related countries some agreements on cooperation in fields like infrastructure and energy."
 
  It is Xi Jingping's second overseas trip since taking office earlier this year.
 
  It will also be the first face-to-face meeting between the two leaders of China and the US since both nations carried out their most recent leadership transitions.
