This is scientific 60second science.I'm Sophie Bushwick, got a minute? That spoon sure looks yummy, not that I am planning on eating my utensils. But the experience infilled of colory influence the taste of food-that's according to a study in the Journal of Flavor. It was already known that plate size, background music and even lighting can influence eating habits. To test the abettor of colory, researchers serve food with utensils of different ways, colors and shapes. When volunteers ate yogurt from lighter spoon, they read it as taste as denser and more expensive.Spoon color was important as well.A blue spoon made white yogurt tastes less sourer than the same yogurt dye pink and the black spoon made both yogurt tastes less sweet.Researchers also fed subject charter cheese who say that eating from the knife made the cheese more sourer that eating from fork, spoon or toothpick.Clearly, outside cues can have a huge influence on how food tastes and not just our eating habbit.Which may color your plate setting at your next dinner parties. Thanks for the minute for scientific American 60 secnds science.I'm Sophie Bushwick. |
