2. Chancellor, Angela Merkel’s conservatives triumphed in Germany’s election Sunday. Merkel’s party could even win the first single party majority in the more than 50 years. She could also find herself leading a grand coalition government. 

 

3. Gun rights supporters are calling for greater efforts to identify and lock up mental ill people who are dangerous. In the wake of the Navy Yard shootings, the National Rifle Association official Wayne LaPierre told NBC’s “meet the press”, not enough of mentally ill are being committed to psychiatric hospitals.

 

4. And Meet Henry, the 19-week-old polar bear cub met the public for the first time Saturday. Henry is the first polar bear born at Sea World on Australia’s Gold Coast.
