 朝鲜敦促美国放弃对平壤的敌对政策

PYONGYANG, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Saturday urged the United States to abandon its hostile policy toward the country, the official KCNA news agency reported.

A spokesman for the National Defense Commission (NDC) of the DPRK said in a statement that the United States should withdraw all measures it says were "taken to isolate and stifle the DPRK as part of its greedy pivot to Asia-Pacific strategy."

Washington should no longer talk about dialogue and improvement of relations "with preconditions," nor insist that non-aggression is possible "only when DPRK dismantles its nuclear weapons first," said the statement.

The United States should clearly understand the meaning of the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, which is Pyongyang's consistent policy goal, and call for denuclearization of the whole Korean Peninsula including South Korea, said the NDC.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said last week if Pyongyang starts denuclearization first, Washington will be ready for dialogue.

The statement dismissed the U.S. request as "an intolerable mockery and insult to the army and people of the DPRK."

The DPRK military on Tuesday denounced U.S.-Japan-S. Korea's joint naval drills in waters off South Korea involving an American aircraft carrier.

The Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea warned on Friday that if the three countries dare to "launch a nuclear war," DPRK's armed forces "will immediately mount counter-attack to bury the aggressors, provocateurs in the sea together with the carrier."

Also on Friday, DPRK top leader Kim Jong Un inspected newly built warships and guided maneuvers, while calling for the naval force to increase its combat capability, said the KCNA.
