哥伦比亚革命武装力量释放俘虏警察
BOGOTA, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) guerrilla group on Sunday released a police officer held captive for 10 days, Red Cross officials said. Jhon Fredy Lopez "was released in a rural area of the town of Leiva, between the departments of Cauca and Narino," Erika Tovar, spokesman of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), was quoted by local media as saying. "Lopez is in good health," said Tovar. "And we are contacting his family so they will be there when we hand him over to the police command in Narino." Jordi Raich, head of the ICRC in Colombia, issued a statement saying that Lopez's release "was carried out upon the request of the parties (involved)." FARC rebels are currently in peace talks with the Colombian government to end their five decades of fighting, but the two sides continue to fight each other in the field. |
