1. Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta says that security forces have finally defeated a small group of terrorists after four days in fighting at a Nairobi mall. 

2. President Barack Obama says the UN Security Council must agree to a resolution on Syrian chemical weapons that includes consequences if the chemical stockpile isn't dismantled. During his General Assembly speech, the president also said he was directing Secretary of State John Kerry to pursue a nuclear weapons agreement with Iran. 

3. Long thought lost, a silent movie classic featuring the Hollywood star Mary Pickford, has been recovered from a New Hampshire barn. Pickford wrote and starred in the 1911 film "Their First Misunderstanding." 

4. Most parents normally do everything they can to stop babies crying. But the aim of a traditional sumo ceremony in Japan is exactly the opposite - with infants coaxed to shed tears in the hope that it will lead to a long and healthy life.
