Africa, Asia, South America get ready to goglobal because we are about to visit them all. I'm Carl Azuz. This is CNNstudent news. First we are heading to North Africa where Egypt former president is preparingstand trial. Last year Muhammad Morsi became Egypt's first democraticallyelected president. This year he was thrown out of office by Egypt'smilitary. Now he and other members of his Muslim Brotherhood partyare facing charges of committing and inciting violence. The unrest in Egypt is affectingthat country’s relationship with United States. Yesterday the US announced thatit is suspending a significant amount of military aid that it sent to Egypt.
Next we are hopping over to Syria. That country's civil war has not ended but ainternational team says it is making progress and efforts to destroy Syria's chemical weapons. Inspectors saw some chemical weapons equipment destroyed thisweek. They say Syrian authorities have been cooperative. The United Nation says the inspectors are working in a dangerous environment. The lead inspector callfor temporary cease-fires in the fighting so that they can do their work.
Last stop, South America. Teachers in the nation of Brazil have been demandingpay raises for months. This week they took to streets. Thousands of peoplemarched in protests in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. The event started off itspeaceful demonstrations but once that someone down, violence broke up. Somepeople in the crowed threw fire bombs, officers responded with tear gas.
