Today is October 11. That means it's the international day of the girl. TheUnited Nation has established that in 2011. And this year's theme is'innovating for girl's education'. The goal of the international day of thegirl is to recognize girl's rights and the challenges that they faced aroundworld. For example, in developing countries, one of that every five girls whoenroll in elementary school never finish. Globally only 30 percent of middleand high school aged girls are enrolled in school and by 2015 it's estimatedthat 64 percent of the people around the world who are illiterate would befemale. Experts say access to education has wide-ranging benefits. Girls whoget more education are shown to have healthier families, and increase educationleads to higher wages for girls and more participation in the country's laborforce. Malala Yousafzai knows all about the benefits of girls having access toeducation, it's a personal cause and when the led her being attacked by theTaliban in her home country of Pakistan.
