China’s CPC discipline watchdog has just held an online discussion with internet users to explain how it carries out its work. The discussion which was hosted on the official website of the Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, saw Deputy Party Secretary of the Commission, Zhang Jun answer questions about improving inspection work and strengthening inspection supervision. The second batch of inspectors divided into 10 groups has just begun their inspection work in designated organs from Sunday. The second such inspection focuses on violations such as power-for-money deals, bribery and corruption and influence-peddling. The current inspection work has attracted increased attention, which goes to show that more work needs to be done to construct a clear and honest Party. Zhang Jun said it showed that people hope the inspection groups can deter the corrupt and curb the momentum of rampant corruption. He said the CPC Central Committee has made the inspection work a priority. New guidelines for the inspection work were issued in June. Formalism, bureaucratism, hedonism and extravagance, which were considered as four forms of undesirable work styles by the CPC Central Committee, will be primarily targeted by inspectors during their inspection work. In addition, violations of political disciplines and illegal official promotions will also be major inspection items.
