Syrian Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi has arrived in Iran’s capital Tehran for a visit. He was greeted by Iran’s energy minister, Hamid Chitchian.

Al-Halqi congratulated Iranians on what he called their "success and historic achievement in the nuclear deal" reached Sunday in Geneva with the world powers. He expressed his hope the deal would have "good consequences" for the region as well as for Syria. Al-Halqi is expected to meet high-ranking Iranian officials for talks on mutual ties as well as regional issues including the Syrian crisis.
