A trough and a cold front are bringing strong winds to southeast and driving showers over Tasmania, Victoria and parts of NSW. A trough is triggering storms in WA, while a high pressure system is directing showers of the Queensland's north coast.

Looking around the country.

Showers on Queensland's east coast, with isolated storms in the north and sunny and warm conditions in the west.

NSW with sunny and warm after a cold morning.

Cool in Victoria with clearing rain and gusty southeasterly winds expected to ease.

Strong winds and showers in Tasmania are likely to ease with morning and afternoon showers in the highlands.

SA will be warm and mostly sunny with some light showers in the south.

Isolated showers and storms in WA's inland, with mild conditions in the south and light showers on the coast.

The NT will see showers and storms in the Top End and north, cold and sunny for the south.

Looking ahead to tomorrow's forecast for the capital cities. Sunny in Brisbane and Canberra, windy in Sydney, mostly sunny in Melbourne, Perth and Darwin. And windy with showers in Hobart.
