 A cloud band is generating patchy rain in Northern Queensland. A trough near the New South Wales and Queensland coast is causing isolated showers, while a high pressure ridge is keeping skies clear across central Australia.

In Queensland, showers are easing in the southeast and it’s mostly dry elsewhere across the state. Cool in the south. 
 
Showers for the east coast of New South Wales. Cold in the west and south of the state. 
 
In Victoria, showers in the northwest and along the east coast. Cool with light winds.
 
Mostly sunny and dry across Tasmania. A cool day with light winds.
 
In South Australia, cold with showers and the odd storm in the south and east of the state. Mostly sunny and cool in the north and west.
 
Showers developing in the southern part of Western Australia. Generally dry and mild elsewhere. 
 
In the Northern Territory, isolated showers in the east. Dry and cool in the south. 
 
Looking ahead to tomorrow’s forecast for the capital cities. Mostly sunny in Brisbane, heavy rain in Sydney, possible showers for Canberra, early frost in Melbourne, mostly sunny in Hobart and Darwin, morning showers in Adelaide and thunderstorms in Perth.
