Green's leader Christine Milne insists her leadership is not in doubt after six of her senior staff quit. One of them has blamed fundamental differences of opinion over strategy, but senator Milne says their differences were only about office matters.

 

The death toll from a powerful earthquake in Pakistan has passed 320 and is expected to keep rising. Rescuers have been searching for survivors in the southern provice of Baluchistan. The 7.7 magnitude quake was so powerful, It caused a small island to emerge from the sea just off the Pakistani coast.
