Two other people have been pulled alive from the debris. Seven police officers have been taken to hospital, suffering from burns. Both sides of politics are accusing each other of abusing travel expenses. Labor is now calling for a wider inquiry into entitlements after a number of Coalition MPs charged taxpayers for travel to attend the weddings of colleagues. Prime Minister Tony Abbott has repaid expenses that he claimed after attending Sophie Mirabella and Peter Slipper's weddings.
Rolf Harris is to face trial in April on child sex charges. The Australian entertainer is accused of indecently assaulting two teenage girls in the 1980s and making indecent images of a child. He'll face court again in January where he's expected to plead not guilty.
A world-first study has revealed many doctors are suffering from depression. Beyondblue has surveyed thousands of Australian doctors and medical students. It found one in ten doctors and one in five medical students have admitted to having had suicidal thoughts in the past year. |
