 A trough is triggering storms over inland Western Australia, the Northern Territory, Queensland and northern New South Wales. A low in the southeast is generating rain and wind in Tasmania while tropical cyclone Alacia is approaching Kimberly.

In Queensland, heavy showers and storms in the north and east. Mostly sunny in the southwest. Very warm with showers in northeast New South Wales, cooler in the south with occasional showers and storms. Cool in Victoria south and east with the odd storm, mostly sunny in the state's north. Rain and storms throughout in Tasmania, heaviest in the south, cool to mild temperatures. In South Australia, hot conditions, showers and storms are expected in the northwest. Cool to mild with a few showers in the southeast. Isolated showers and storms in Western Australia's south and southwest with heavy storms in the north. Sunny elsewhere. And in the Northern Territory, widespread showers and storms concentrated mostly in the north. Hot conditions with gusty, northeasterly winds in the south.
 
Looking ahead to tomorrow is forecast for the capital cities.
