CCTV9英语新闻：Tourist sites in China's East, West, North favored during May Day Holiday（在线收听）

Data available from analytics company IZP Tec. show those sites that have been most popular with tourists and also the problems they faced during 3-day May Day holiday. The data are a collation of hundreds of millions of searches by netizens to date.

West Lake and Wuzhen water town in Zhejiang, Palace Museum in Beijing, Jiuzhaigou Valley in Sichuan, and Gulangyu islet in Fujian were the most popular destinations for tourists. This map shows the intensity of tourists during the holiday, with tourists concentrated in China’s East, North and West. Complaints have also been rising, with false publicity, forced consumption and overcharge of parking fees high on the search list. 

The tourism law says travel agencies will be fined for misleading tourists. Tourism authorities say travel agencies also have the right to cancel contracts with tourists if they are found to be indulging in activities that are illegal or violate social ethics, such as spitting in public or littering.
