 President Barack Obama said the United States is finishing the job it started in Afghanistan. The president says he's planning to keep fewer than 10,000 troops in the country after this year but then draw down those forces by the end of 2016.

 
The Supreme Court has sided with police officers who were sued over a high-speed chase that ended with the deaths of a fleeing driver and his passenger. The court was unanimous in holding that the Arkansas police officers who fatally shot the driver did not violate his constitutional rights.
 
A day of mourning and reflection was held at the University of California, Santa Babara Tuesday after last week's deadly rampage that took the lives of 6 students. The university canceled classes and lowered flags on campus to half-staff.
 
And President Obama drew attention to girls' science and engineering accomplishments at the annual White House Sciene Fair. He annouced a new program aimed at diversifying the nation's technological workfoce.
