CCTV9英语新闻:Many lending a helping hand to quake victims(在线收听) |
In the wake of Sunday’s earthquake, which hit Zhaotong in Southwest China’s Yunnan Province, many have rushed to blood donation stations and some are volunteering to help in hospitals.
Blood supplies are running low, and there is only enough blood to treat about100 patients, staff say.
"I really want to do something for the quake-stricken area. It’s no big deal for a thirty-something young guy like me, " a blood donor said.
"I can do nothing, but can at least donate this blood, to help them get through the hardship," another donor said.
And in No. 1 People’s Hospital in Zhaotong, many others have volunteered to help out.
"We help the patients get medicine and other things. Most of us are students, and there are also working people."
Many more volunteers remain on hand to offer help wherever they are needed.
