With tensions running higher, an unrelated police shooting near Ferguson drew a large crowd Tuesday after St, Louise police shot and killed a knife wielding man. 2. Two high school students were arrested Tuesday, suspected of planning a massacre at a California high school. School officials had learned the plot and notified investigators who monitored the students’ internet activities. Police determined the threat was credible.
3. A new study finds that poachers have killed an estimated 100,000 elephants across the Africa between 2010 and 2012. The study released Monday says the huge spike in the continent’s elephant death rate is due to an increased demand for ivory in Asian nations.
4. And the lunch bus program in Chicago is helping to combat hunger during the summer months. Three green vans make about 20 stops a day, serving lunch in high need communities until students return school after Labour Day.
