1. The US government is ramping up its response to Ebola crisis after a second Dallas nurse contracted the disease. Ember Vinson was recently cleared by the CDC to take a commercial flight something the CDC now says should not have happened. She’s been transferred to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. Wednesday, president Obama directed federal health officials to oversee the case and one other one in Dallas and respond to future cases in a much more aggressive way. 2. Hong Kong’s leader says he’s ready to start talks within days with pro-democracy demonstrators who clashed again with police overnight. Tensions between the two sides have gone up as riot police armed with batons and pepper spray have tried to clear protesters from the streets.
3. The Kansas City Royals are headed to the world series after sweeping the Baltimore Orioles with a 2-1 win Wednesday. Meanwhile, the San Francisco Giants rallied to beat the St. Louis Cardinals 6-4 to take a 3-1 lead in the game in the National League championship series.
