1. The 2nd student is dead following Friday’s deadly school shooting in north of Seattle. Officials say 14-year-old Gio Soriano died from her injuries. Three other students remain hospitalized. Two of them are in critical condition. 2. The governors of New York and New Jersey are clarifying their positions on quarantines for medical workers returning home from treating Ebola patients in West Africa. Governor Andrew Cuomo and Governor Christ Christie say their policies permit 21-day home confinement for those workers as long as they aren’t showing any symptoms of the disease.
3. Dozens of residents in a rural area of Hawaii have been told be ready to evacuate as flowing lava from an erupting volcano continues to advance. Authorities say lava flow on the Big Island is moving at the rate about 10 to 15 yards an hour.
4. And Madison Bumgarner tossed the first World Series shutout in 11 years, allowing four hits while striking out 8 in the San Francisco Giants’ 5 to nothing win over Kansas City. The Giants now lead the Royals 3 games to 2 as the series moves back to Kansas City. |
