This is AP News Minute. 8 suspected Cuban migrants were rescued in the waters off Miami. U.S. coastguard cereived reports of an overturned raft in the Biscayne Bay Monday morning. 3 people were rescued by a boater as officials search for 5 more still unaccounted for.
Thousands protest in Budapest in opposition to a proposed heavy tax on Internet use by the government. Demonstrators held up mobilephones and threw computer parts at government buildings. The tax will enforce Internet service providers to pay up to 62 cents per gigabyte of data downloaded by users.
Extremists have tried to gain control of the Syrian boarder town of Kobani as smoke was seen billowing from buildings. The Islamic State group launched offensive to take Kobani in mid September and has been battling Kurdish fighters ever since. 200,000 have been forced to flee in neighboring Turkey.
And 22-year-old St.Louis Cardinals outfielder Oscar Taveras has died in his native Dominican Repubilc. Taveras crashed while driving on a highway after losing control of the vehicle. He had made his Major League debut earlier this year.
