1. President Obama could ask Congress on Tuesday to authorize military force against Islamic State militants. It would be the first war voting in Congress since the one that authorized the war in Iraq in 2002. 

2. Some Alabama counties are issuing marriage licenses to same sex couples while others are not. Federal ruling striking down Alabama same sex marriage ban went into effect Monday, but the state's chief judge ordered officials not to issue licenses to same sex couples. 

3. A juvenile judge in suburban is ordering a confidence hearing for an 11-year-old girl. The girl was accused of beating to death a 2-month-old infant who was staying in her house. 

4. And a 15-vehicle pileup on the New Jersey turnpike left one person died and several injured. The incident happened during a mix of freezing weather, rains and snow flurry.
