This is AP News Minute. 1. Congress says Republican leadership has made it official, formally enrolling legislation to fill (file) the Keystone XL Pipeline, and urged President Barack Obama to sign it. The White House has said repeatedly it will wait to make a decision until after State Department review.
2. Thousands of people in Dresden, Germany joined hands to form a human chain in commemoration to World War II firebox raid on the city 70 years ago. The church ceremony in human chain was intended as expressions of support for cause of peace abroad and tolerance at home.
3. A Chinese man ran his car into a barrier in front of US Consulate in Shanghai late Thursday night, injuring an armed police officer. Shanghai police said the man was placed in custody and told officials that he doesn't do this by accident, he wanted to get some attention.
4. NASA celebrated the 5th anniversary of the Solar Dynamic Observatory by releasing a time lapse video showing the sun over a nearly 5-year period. The time lapse begins in June 2010 with data becoming available and lasts until February 5th this year. |
