This is AP News Minute. 1. After the Department of Justice's decision to not bring federal charges against George Zimmerman in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, Martin's family is speaking out. Martin's mother Sybrina Fulton told the associated press she was "very sadden" by the outcome. Officials told Martin's parents they did not have enough evidence to bring civil rights charges against Zimmerman.
2. Police have arrested 4 students in connection to at least dozens of students overdosing on Molly at Wesleyan University last weekend. 11 students received medical attention after taking the refined form of Ecstasy that officials say was mixed with other chemicals. The 4 suspects have been suspended from university.
3. Clashes between riot police and demonstrators blocking access to the International Airport in Acapulco have left 12 injured. 4000 teachers marched to demand better working condition and protested the disappearance of 40 students last fall. Officials say dozens of protesters were arrested.
4. And a massive pileup on the snow-covered Interstate 95 in Maine closed a 30 miles stretch of highway for 5 hours, more than 40 vehicles crashed, at least 17 people were hurt. |
