1. In Jerusalem, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon remains in a coma following emergency surgery Saturday morning to remove about 20 inches of his large intestine. He was rushed into surgery after doctors noticed abdominal swelling and detected dead tissue. The hospital director says with each passing day, Sharon's chances of coming out of the coma are lower.
2. Israeli police fire stun grenades to disperse a crowd of Palestinian youths trying to burn Danish flags in protest over a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammad. As similar protests continue worldwide, Turkey’s prime minister is urging world leaders to help keep the cartoon controversy from splitting the Islamic and Christian worlds.
