 Two men are remaining in custody following the weekend's counter-terrorism raids in Melbourne. One has been charged with the terrorism offence, while the other is being held under a preventative detention order, the first time it's been used in Victoria. Police are now investigating claims that some of the men were mistreated during their arrests.

Foreign minister Julie Bishop has brokered an intelligence share deal with Iran. The two countries have agreed to exchange information about Australians fighting with the Islamic State militants in Iraq. Ms. Bishop has been in Iran for serious talks with senior officials including the president. 
 
 
Western Australia's treasurer Mike M. says his state will get a special 600 million-dollar-payment from the federal government to make up for cuts to its share of the GST. He says the agreement was reached on the sidelines of Friday's co... meeting in Canberra. 
 
 
And hundreds of migrants are feared to have drawned when their boat sank off the coast of Lybia. The vessel was thought to be carrying up to seven hundred people. And massive rescue operation is now under way, involving ships from Italy and Malta. So far only fifty survivors have been found.
