The State Council has issued a five-year plan on supporting the career development of teachers working in rural areas.

The plan says reforms will be made to ensure children in rural areas have access to a fair and proper education. Central authorities will increase fiscal support to improve the living standards of rural teachers. Those teaching kids will also be given further training, especially those in undeveloped regions.

In addition, reforms will be made to the performance evaluation system, to encourage rural teachers' career development. Preferential policies will be introduced as well, to encourage college graduates to consider teaching in rural areas.
