A fighter jet co-developed by the Chinese and Pakistanis has made its debut in Paris. The JF-17 fighter performs an aerial display during the air show, winning applause from tens of thousands of visitors.

 

This is the JF-17 fighter jet. Co-developed by the Aviation Industry Corporation of China and Pakistan's Air Force, it made its debut Monday at an air show in Paris.

 

During more than five minutes of aerobatics, the three fighters received applause from many visitors.

 

Currently, fifty fighters are in service in three Pakistani Air Force squadrons. The number is set to increase to one hundred over the next two years.

 

The Aviation Industry Corporation of China has also predicted that in the next 10 to 15 years, between 200 and 300 JF- 17 fighters would be sold globally.

 

And both the fighter jet's co-developers are confident about its abilities and sales in the global market.

 

"I believe the JF-17, like any other advanced fighter jets in the world, will be the backbone of our clients air forces," Li Yuhai, vice president of Aviation Industry Corporation Of China, said.

 

Li has also revealed that future JF-17 fighters will have more advanced capabilities, such as air-to-air refuelling, data links, electronic warfare capabilities, and it will be equipped with new guided weapons.

 

He added that he's already looking forward to the dual-seat JF-17 trainer, which is under development.
