 I am going on a series of astonishing adventures, travelling on three of the planet's mightiest rivers. These rivers have given rise to some of the greatest civilizations. For centuries we worshiped their life-giving waters, and fear their awesome destructive powers. On these epic journeys, I will meet some extraordinary characters. I will experience the very different cultures, religions and countries that have emerged along our sacred rivers. in this episode, I will be travelling two thousand miles along the legendary Yangtze River, Asia's longest river, from the far west China to Shanghai where it flows into the sea. For decades the Chinese communism leaders tried to eradicate religious beliefs and ancient philosophies. But Chinese changed, and this journey is a chance for me to learn more about what people here now actually think and believe.
